The PCI express power draw issues were resolved weeks ago, so ignore any reviews mentioning that because it's now a non-issue, if it was ever more than a theoretical problem in the first place. At 1080p, this card is probably good enough to run you for three years on max settings in any game without even thinking about it. I suspect that as time goes by I may need to lower some quality settings for ultra-demanding titles at 1440p, but right now it plays anything maxed and is as smooth as silk. In WoW, with everything maxed (except Shadows = High) and using MSAA (Color 4/Depth 4) and CMAA post-processing AA I get around 80-110 FPS. If you can tell the difference between 90 FPS and 144 FPS then you're a better person than I am (for those who will complain that this card can't get 144 FPS at 1440p for every game maxed out).Įvolve was sitting around 60-70 FPS, maxed. Even with something newer like The Division, with all settings maxed I was around 45-50 FPS, and with Freesync that actually looks to be as smooth as something running at 70-80 FPS. You'll be either at or close to 144 FPS (keeping Vsync on to keep it in the Freesync range, despite the minor input lag that this causes) in less-demanding titles such as Diablo III and League of Legends. This is a solid card for 1440p gaming, and has handled everything I've thrown at it so far. I'm pairing it with an Acer XG270HU 144Hz 1440p Freesync monitor, and coming from a GeForce 760 2GB. You pay for it (it's priced ten-twenty dollars higher than Sapphire's MSRP, and that's on NewEgg), but it is quality through and through. Pros: This is the fastest out-of-the-box RX 480 that you can buy, and it both looks and feels like it.
#Radeon rx 480 apex legends low fps update#
I will probably update this review as I've had more time with the card, but so far, so good. Under the card stays around 75C and the clock speed seems to stay at 1342 MHz (no clock throttling). I did a test this morning where I have been running on the card to load it up and monitor the clocks and temps with WattMan. So far the fans on the card stay quiet under load. My old 6850 was a slide show at these settings. In Doom I am able to run at 1920x1200 at the highest settings in Vulkan and the game is buttery smooth.

The only game I have tried with it so far is the Doom demo running under Vulkan. Overall Review: I just got this card yesterday and installed it without any issues. I like the simple design of the shroud/cooling system (the card doesn't look like a transformer)
